P105 is a three credit-hour lecture course covering the physical principles involved in the description, generation, detection, and reproduction of sound. Topic discussed include physics of vibrations and waves, Fourier decomposition of complex wave forms, harmonic spectra, propagation of sound waves in air, standing waves and resonance, sound loudness and decibels, room acoustics, and digital description of sound. More details are given in the course syllabus above.
