Silicon

BASELINE: 1 double-sided silicon microstrip layer (r-phi, r-z)
Radius = 48 cm (~inside radius of TPC)
Half-length = 29.5 cm (out in z to the first silicon disk)
sigma_rphi = sigma_rz = 7 microns

Units in $1000.  Attempts to scale from Bruce's numbers.
Channel count goes with resolutions
Active area ~1.8 m2 c.f. ~36 m2 of small detector barrel.
Assume cheaper LST? Yes.

Scintillating Fibers

PROPOSED ADDITION/REPLACEMENT? Scintillating fibers - ~230 micron individual
resolution r-phi, ~115 um combined, ~1 nsec _timing_ resolution, complementary for
bunch time id.

Single carbon fiber barrel, fibers 800 um diameter,
Two layers axial, two layers 3 deg. stereo
Readout by visible light photon counters + SVXII

Radius = 48 cm (~inside radius of TPC) or just inside silicon barrel above - combine mechanics?
Half-length = 29.5 cm (out in z to the first silicon disk)

Extrapolating from DO Upgrade system (8 cylinders, r=19 cm to 50 cm, 77k chan)
